i have seen that before,i doubt the pump is bad,the cavity that the driving lobe sits in needs oil in it to lubricate the moving parts, are you sure its gasoline,or is it stinky, dirty oil?

if it is for sure gasoline i would replace the pump, usually when a pump diafram developes a leak it will go up the hose, but maybe it just hasen,t gotten that bad yet.

On both boats I owned (4 pumps), they've always had fuel in them. On the first boat (2) I had I changed the fuel pumps and shortly after I had fuel in the oil. Now I just change the oil every 25 hours. If I see metal on the magnet I rebuild the pump. The lobe and a washer are where it has always come from.

That is what I would do. Its pretty normal to see some fuel contamination. Use Merc HP gear lube or whatever you use for drive lube. I used to change mine yearly on my 525SC.
