Stopped by a friends shop today and he was working on a 38 foot hustler with stock 496 ho's in it. Someone stuffed these motors in it as a after thought. That boat looks BIG and HEAVY to me, I can't imagine it barely going 60 mph if not slower, my bud says the owner THINKS its going to running at least 80, after all, it has 850 hp!! What kinda speed will it see, Smitty

The 388 is not a deep V nor a heavy 38 footer (compared to Formula/Cig). It won't see 80 but I'd expect low 70's.......maybe 75 under ideal conditions.


of course I've sold my 382 and putz around in a 21 ft CC now so what do I know

75 would be my guess. My sonic is way bigger than the hustler and runs 67-70 depending on how its loaded and water conditions.

The 388 with 500 efi's runs about 82-83. With 575 sci's, it will run almost 90. The owner of the new Rockit that I did the engines for has had (4) 388 Slingshots.
