Default Trannsducer Troubles 33 outlaw

Bought 2000 33 outlaw new and it didn't have a depth guage. had dealership put a lowrance digital 2" round guage in but they put the transducer out the back of the boat. Worked fine on the lake of the ozarks but first trip back to the muddy mississippi the transducer got ripped off by a stick. I want to put a transducer in the bilge shooting through the bottom of the boat but dealer said it won't work but yet they come from the baja factory in the bilge. Dealer did say the floor of the bilge was notched for the factory thru-hull transducer. Has anybody had any luck adding a transducer in the bilge area?

Outlawinil - There is a spot in the bilge that is flat and has no balsa coreing. The Thru-the-Hull transducer will not read through the balsa so it needs to be mounted in this area where it is solid fiberglass.Wardey
