Just another sign of the times, the economy is still not where it once was and won't be for some time. It's sad to hear about the cancellation of this race, as so much work and time has gone into putting it on this event and the economical loss to the local economy will be felt. To all those that have worked tirelessly to try and bring this race to Orange Beach and to all the sponsors, volunteers and everyone else involved, thanks for your hard work and efforts. Thanks for posting this information Tim.

It is so true the economy plays a big factor right now for a lot of race site, and isnt going to get better any time soon. OB is an awesome site and really enjoyed racing there it sucks to lose sites this way. Another favorite that was affected by todays economic times is Morehead City that was a another awesome site love the fans and the city we always looked forward to racing there.

NO.
Palm Beach World Championships replaced OB so OPA had no intention of going back in 2012.
They did not seem to name who was going to sanction the event this season. ?

I feel bad for the promoters who have to lie till the last minute not to loose boat count??
