K plains are better. 280 series. But the bennett 12x16 sport tabs shouldf do the job as well

i won't say the biggest diff is price, but it is a big diff. rule of thumb, if you need hydraulic steering you need k-planes or equivalent. biggest bennets are not equivalent...

IMHO, if you're out in bigger water, the Bennet product will not tolerate the abuse. I had them on my Baja. Every time I'd land a$$ first on a wave, I'd blow up the rams. I got K Planes, no more problems. They were a spendy upgrade though, that's for sure. Check out the boat first. I'd say if you don't need tabs to operate the boat, don't even sweat the Bennets. I know lotsa people that don't even use their tabs / K planes.

Generally speaking, the heavier / longer the boat and / or the rougher the water, the heavier duty the tab required. For the kind of water you're talking about on the hull you mentioned, you can probably get away with Bennett Sport Tabs with the dual cylinders. Any bigger of a hull in rougher water though, you'd be better off with K-Planes. They're next to indestructable. (And a lost costlier too.)

Single or dual rams and how heavy is your boat!

The problem with Bennett tabs is that they are sooooooo slow. The other problem is one is always faster than the other. The rams are made of plastic and can not take much abuse. I removed mine and installed Merc 280s. Jeff Wurl

IMO definitely worth the $$ to upgrade if you run in rough water. I went from dual ram Bennett's to 280S K-Planes on my 292 (basically a 27 boat) and it was worth every penny.

I am going from a dual ram bennett sport tabs on a 271 to a pair of custom fabricated tabs still using the bennett cylinders the other thing I changed is adding a second bennett pump only to help with time it takes for tabs to go up and down

The other end of the speed spectrum is the Lenco electric tabs. They move so fast they can scare you.
