Default Older model Mercruiser 572 CID

I picked up an old Baja as a project boat that has a carb version 572 engine. I need to find out more about the engine, if parts are available, specs for rebuild etc. I would also like to know if there is any amount of "beef" you can do to a Bravo 1 outdrive to hold this engine...I'm being told it may not be possible.

That I don't know...it seems to be the only info I can find is that it may have been an early 800SC...regardless, I'm going to yank it and go through it..

I'm pretty sure the 800sc was 572 cubic inches. Merc also made a 575 hp carbed 540 bulldog back in the late 80's.
