best ignition for Merc 525SC??

best ignition for Merc 525SC??
My buddy's 93 35' fountain has twin 525's, stock. The Merc (looks like MSD made it for them?) multispark ignition went south this weekend.
He's going to look at just getting a replacement Merc unit but we're hearing they are pricey. He may opt to replace both units with aftermarket units. What's the hot set-up these days for reliability- MSD, Crane, other? Are they all good? Factory plug in would be nice. I know the Hi-6 used to have an externally adjustable rev limiter which is nice.
Just looking for input from someone who's been doewn this road.
