Hi Friends,
We got our butts kicked
We fried a gearbox on Friday and used our short course box and ratio. Real good acceleration and turn speed, but low on the top end. Our overall heat averages were pretty consistent at 139, 138, 138 and mid 130's. The winners were running 141's, so it was pretty much a watch the other guys' transom fly by day ........................
The Detroit Gold Cup is this weekend on the Detroit River. 2.5 course, generally rough and fast. We'll have our good stuff back together and assuming we can find another 5-8 MPH we'll be strong. If any of you out there in OSO land are familiar with Lycoming turbines, and specifically T55L7Cs (the ones used on Chinook helicopters (and our boat) ) we would sure like to speak with you about some fuel control questions.
Congrats to the winners at Madison:
#1 Elam with Nate Brown
#2 Troxel with Terry Troxell (former PICO boat)
#3 Budweiser with Dave Vilwock
Thank you!
Steve David

Steve David,
Maybe you can help me find an extra 5-8mph to keep up with Benny this coming weekend in Deerfield. If you can't maybe it will be 3-5 footers out there.
Good luck next week.

See you at the Gold Cup, Steve!--we'll be there Friday afternoon.
Wish I could help you out with the fuel control issues- I'm a corporate jet mechanic by trade, but don't have any experience with the T55
I do have some contacts at Textron however, and might be able to get you in touch with some gurus?

Bad Apple,
If the weather stays as it is, you guys will have same major fun! Ben and I know that the 35' has water that's right for it, and other times that aren't real pretty, eg: Point Pleasant, ugghhh. I hear from Ben that you gave the 38's a real run for their money.
Look forward to rejoining you all at point Pleasant. While you're in Deerfield we'll be in Detroit and when you're in NC we'll be racing in Seattle. I think Mike Seebold will re join Ben for Deerfield, not sure who will team up with Ben for NC. And I think, just maybe, the 35 may be owned by someone else by then and we'll be in a 38 ???
Brett stay safe
Jafo, thanks for your offer. We've been speaking with a really knowledgeable fellow from Lycoming (retired) whose been a big help. We're hoping to get him to Detroit to wrench on the actual engines. Look forward to seeing you this weekend.
Be well,
Steve
