Hey guys,
Hope y'all are doing fine.
First and foremost I am not a gear head so please bare with me..
My 1995 32 fountain equipped with 2 502's merc's is only hitting 62-65 mph. WOT is only about 3900-4200 RPM's on both engines.
Engines are rebuilt with over 100 hours on them.
I thought it could be the fuel injectors as they haven't been cleaned in ages so i'll start there.
Props are stock and according to the previous owner on these props he was getting 4800rpm which sounds about right.
Amy suggestions guys?
Thanks and regards

I live overseas and out fuel quality is pretty bad. Im talking about 86 octane level for pump gas. Other boats don't seem to be that bothered by it as they seem to be getting higher RPM's I just got all the spark plugs and fuel injectors changed. I'll take it for a ride this week and see if that does the job. If that doesn't do it, where shall i start next?
thanks

ignition timing. fuel filters. check the fuel pickup in bottom of tank. bum a scan tool and look for codes. apparently a scan tool can be fabbed for essentially free with 1 diode (led) and a couple of jumper wires.

Is this a boat that you have previously run at higher speeds, or is this boat new to you?
If this boat is new to you, please have somebody knowledgeable take you out and show you how to trim your drives and tabs.
If you have never SEEN this boat run 4800 rpm with the current setup, then the previous owner may have lied just a little bit.
At any rate, that is not normal performance for a properly tuned and propped 32.

Hey there..I'm def no expert on boats but ive tried trimming it in every possible way! Over here, we don't really have anyone that can really work on these boats so im relying on all of ya'll. I'm not sure on the prop/gear set up but from what I understand they were left in stock form. What would you suggest I go for? I believe she should be getting at least 5000 rpm's.
Thanks
Thanks
i would make sure the engines are running on all 16 cylinders first..a pair of real rubber gloves and remove each plug wire when running and listen you a drop in rpm.s..make sure theirs no gas in the bilge first so you dont blow up....
if you only have 86 octane fuel then your going rto have to find some racing fuel and mix it wigh your chit fuel to try and get the octane rating up..

Is there a serial number on top of the motor (assuming they are mercruiser)? If not look at the outdrives (assuming bravo1's) and see if they have it labeled. The serial number will let us know what you have. Also on the drive it might be listed as to what the drive ratio is 1.5 or 1.36. As Mcollinstn asked, Is this a boat that you have previously run at higher speeds, or is this boat new to you?

are the engines blur or black?? did you buy this boat from over seas? sounds like someone may have pulled a engine switcharu...

The boat was purchased from the u.s.a and shipped over here. I have had no issues with her other than vapor lock.. no surprise considering our temperatures can get up to 120 degrees. What I find strange is that both motors are getting the exact same RPM's when pushed hard which is 4300 max when trimmed right. My gut feeling is that it's a prop issue or a gas issue since our octane is low. The engines are from 1995 and rebuilt in 2005 and have been ok so far so I do believe the previous owner was very honest with me.
I'll go over there tomorrow and take some pics of the boat when opening her up and you can be the judge.
Thanks and best regards,
