Best boat under 40k for Erie
Hey guys, long time no see, haven't kicked around on here in a couple months, as my boat search led me away from this forum sadly. But I figured, in two years what I can spend on a boat will be doubled, and I can get into a much better performance boat, so I am doing it the cheapskate way for a year or two. I plan to get into something much bigger in the next couple years, bigger than my 20 CC. But isn't the key to achieving your goal setting it? So I am just curious on opinions to what is the BEST Lake Erie offshore boat for under or around 40,000 would be. Fuel consumption, not a big deal. Speed at least a nice 60.... 75 or 80 would be great, but hard to get that for this money unless I go small, but that would lead to less sea worthiness. I am not too concerned about year, or brand, I just want opinions, the more the better. Thanks!

This is in the classifieds, maybe an offer of $40K would get it, asking price is $45K. Alot of boat, for that kind of money. I would guess it runs between 85mph-90mph (an asummption).
2001 35' Sutphen with 2 x 650 hp, Bravo drives, 72 hours total. I do not know the owner or seller.

If your goal is to spend less and have fun for a few years until you upgrade you can have alot of fun for 30 or less. I have a 98 scarab 29 twin 350 does roughly 70. They are fairly modern looking well balanced and handle waves great. I also boat on lake Erie. There is another 29 scarab on eBay with new stock motors the guy has been trying to sell for 34 and is now down to 29. I think you could probably get it for 27?? It's a heck of a boat for the money. Just my opinion however
