M-B R320 CDI, what do you know, experienced etc, tell me about them

We are looking at the R class and the earlier diesel CDI seems to be more of an interest but I don't know what all is different with the BlueTec. Have you had one of these? What all does everyone know about them here?
I know all the 2012 cars are black on black so they are out for us; we prefer Iridium Silver. We want fully loaded too not just P1 or P2. That M-B Tex junk is terrible and way to many cars have it.
Ok so tell me about it.

(((( crickets chirping )))))))
So is this why the market is dismal and Mercedes quit making them for the U.S. ...... nobody bought one or knows about it?
Hhuuummmm.
I see where they used run flat tires on the 350 BlueTec models because the Urea tank used up the spare tire space. Many owners don't like the ride of the run-flats but I would change them out for regular tires.

Ok, I'll comment though I didn't actually own the car just put 5k miles on a new on back in 2007. Had a new GL320 CDI that I lemon lawed, MBUSA offered to replace it and gave me a brand new R class to drive until my 2nd GL came in.
R class got marginally better mileage than the GL. Felt like you were driving a Chrysler Pacifica and my neighbor commented it looked like a hearse but with the dead man behind the wheel (car was black). Rear doors were huge, major door ding producer in the garage or parking lot.
An acquaintance put 120k on one but dumped it when the extended warranty ran out. I didn't love the GL but my wife really loved it, even more than the Audi A8L it replaced.

I understand the Pacifica was an influence in the R design so driving like one seems fitting.
Those rear doors are a mile long but the access is great.
I noticed that shape looks quite different across the color options.
The "trucky" drive of the GL is no interest to my wife and the better mileage of the R is prefered with us. So far we are still focused on the R.
That GL 320 CDI is the same drive train that the R has so what area of the vehicle was the lemon?

If I was looking for a diesel SUV I would look into the new Porsche Cayenne TDI. Same power train as the Touraeg and Q7 so the bugs should be worked out by now!

Not sure on the cause, bought it new with 11 miles on it and got two tow truck rides off the side of I95 before I made the first payment! It would just die out, sputter and then wouldnt run past idle. They took it back and got me another one. 2nd one went 50k miles in 28 months and we traded it......that one had 3 oil changes and one set of tires.

The Q7 would be one possibility since it has 3 rows of seats. The only ones I know with three rows are the "R", "GL", and "Q7". I like the mileage of the Touraeg but it only holds 5 passengers.
We haven't driven a Q7 yet.
