Default POV Video from Port Huron Class 6 Race Start

It's been cut down to eliminate the milling and boring stuff but the GoPro helmet cam does a great job at showing the racer point of view (POV).. enjoy.

You are right! The helmet cam lets racing fans know exactly what it is like to be in the race boat racing. It would be great if every boat had that and the engine sounds are fantastic, even better then hearing it from shore. Sorry to see that you guys broke. Thanks for posting the video, it is appreciated.

Class 6 boats range in power from 500hp to 850hp (or so I was told).. the engine we are running makes 719hp on pump gas.

Speed is limited to 70mph, so building a strong torque motor for acceleration is a must.

We raced 3 years on that bravo unit with out every tearing it down.. Just changed the oil every so often.. I'm really surprised it lasted as long as it had.

But it's all good and we will be back at it for the next round.

Very cool!

Quick question......what makes the video distort? Is it the type of lens or does it have something to do with the vibration? I have seen many go-pro videos and don't think I remember that distortion.

Thanks
Jim

I think it's the vibration. My old camera would do it when "hard mounted" on the bow rail of my boat. I put it on my snowmobiles handlebars and it really distorted.

That was not camera distortion, it was just the deck flexing.
