Default Vortec intake gaskets

I've done a lot of reading, all I can find for SB Vortec gasket info is a GM # 12529094 and $$$, these were old threads too.
Is there any newer info on gaskets, because I read a lot of problem gaskets and I only want to do this once.
Vortecs with a RPM Performer.
Thanks in advance.

don't use the GM gaskets, felpro make a "normal" style gasket for vortec heads

I just re-did the intake gaskets on my 98 tahoe for the second time in two years....first time i used the felpro gaskets...they are nice...but be sure to follow the proper torquing technique...and dont over tighten!! Problem with the vortec design itself as i see it, is the small amount of material between the intake runners to suport the gasket. I had a leak between cyl's 5/7 giving me grief on the orriginal factory gasket....the felpro lasted me just over 1yr and the gasket blew out this time between the lower portion of cyl 8 and the lifter valley....i actually did go with a GM replacement this time because i have foudn out that they now have a metal washer in the bolt holes of the gasket so you cant over crush them. I also used a contact adhesive to help keep the gasket inplace....after i cleaned it all down with acetone. Hope its the last time i do that job cause it sucks!

Just wanted to finish out the thread, I decided to go with the Fel-Pro 1255's. This way I don't have to worry about the silicone beads blowing out or over torque etc,,,,
Thanks for the info!!!

Default fixx

the stock gasket is a fp18-0488 which are plastic and will brake at the water ports...i have been using the fal pro fpms98000t which is a aluminum and rubber gasket which would be the best gasket to use... the fp 1255 is not a vortec gasket its a universal gasket with too mant extra holes...weak at the ports, not good for a marine engine..
