Default 502 GenVI valley pan

Does anyone run the valley pan on the Gen VI?I know it is there to keep the splash off the intake on the older blocks but the GenVI has the slotted plate retainer there and it would seem to me this would stop any oil from the cam splash? Thanks James

A buncha spray comes off the tops of the lifters, too. I say if you got a pan, use it. It ain't gonna hurt you.

Thanks didn't think of that and I got it.It was just when I had my condensation problems last year it seem to rust some what so I allready put the rust buster stuff on it and will paint it up with some rustolem along with the retainer and install them.

I pulled mine out and threw them in the trash. There was always a lot of white sludge above them - they seemed to trap it between the pan and the intake. Also they interfered with the intake gasket. I just opened up one of the engines and the white sludge problem is gone.
