Default How much HP are my 540s?

Recently picked up this boat that has some nice 540s in it. Previous owner never dynoed them but figured they were pushing around 750hp each.

Here are the specs:
The engine blocks are GM Siamese tall decks, 540 CID, Callies cranks, Carrillo rods, JE pistons, Crane Hydraulic roller cams, Jesel cam belt assemblies, Dart heads, Brodix intakes, Electromotive Fuel Injection and Ignition, Vortec V4 Race blowers with intercoolers.

Machine work before assembly (all parts were new):

Internals were fully balanced and blue printed. Cranks polished, Decks surfaced, mains were align honed

Crane Cam part #: 139741 , grind # HR-296-2s-12 IG
Intake @cam 359 @valve 610
Exhaust @ cam 372 @valve 632

Thats one of the problems: I dont know too many of those details. Lower boost, maybe 5lbs although Im sure a pully change would make a big difference.

They look like pro chargers to me, not vortec

Rambo,

What kind of speeds are you seeing? What props and drives? Those numbers will give a good indication of what kin of HP you are making

There just pro charger intercoolers, can't tell on my phone but look like vortec blowers.
They are Gil manifolds with some custom risers. I think he has Ssm III drives with some pretty good size props.

Like it was said, too many variables, but sure sounds like a nice parts list. Callies cranks, carrillo rods, Dart heads, jesel, tall deck blocks, etc etc. I can see those engines with a roots 10-71 making 900+ with maybe 7-8lbs of boost.

Don't know jack about Vortech blowers, but sure looks like they are overdriven just a little! 750HP should be easy on low boost mode with that setup.

Mild there is a gear train in that cover that steps the ratio. I forget what the available ratios were.
