absolutely! Without a doubt! Just be sure you have the right Cam selection. I dont know anything about the fuel injected side of things but I am sure there are a few people on here that can answer those questions. I have 522's that made well over 1200 HP with the M4's and I know a few people running M3's making around a 1000 HP with 509's to 516's....

It will do it. The question is how long do you want it to last.

You better have premium parts, proper assembly, correct injectors, and a proper tune.

Het tunnel, did I hear that you have the edelbrock aluminum heads? I also have a 509 with an m3 and the edelbrock aluminum heads. I would like to make 1000hp and wondered if these heads are up to the task? Also would you recommend the blow through carb setup, or stay with injection. I am running around 675hp now, with the factory injection setup. Not sure if I should go to the blow through setup, or modify the injection setup for more power?

Hey, my engines made 1298 on the Dyno, my sheets are somewhere floating around on here lol. There was a 6% correction factor added as well to that number. I would definately say fuel injection. I have been having some idle issues etc.. engines running fat and some fouling of plugs..My edelbrock heads had alot of work done to them as well so I think your combo would work out great but be sure your bottom end and your valve train can support the power etc...Im sure you know this already but Im just saying...But if you can stick with the fuel injection, by all means stick with it! You can call guys like Eddie Young, theres a guy on here called Haxby (think I spelled that wrong),boost power etc.. all of these guys can help you out totally and they are all really cool to work with...

If your engines are making 640HP Naturally aspirated, 800HP should be doable on low boost. Like 4-5lbs, and be reliable.

The real question is, what is your combination now? Compression, cam specs, and so forth. That will give a idea of how much boost you can run.

Stick with the injection. Talk to ''articfriends'' Smitty. He's vastly knowledgeable in this area. He's been there and done it. I want to say he was making 1000+ thru the merc injection setup with some mods.

Yes Smitty and I have been talking a fair amount. Great guy, very smart. I was thinking of staying with the injection, but at over 1200hp with a blow through setup and 522ci. I felt I should at least discuss the option of a blow through carb as well. I guess I have been feeling if my end goal is 1000hp, maybe I should swap the merc injection for a direct injection intake, with a blow through throttle body?

I would not use the merc EFI, either good blow thru carb or aftermaker very tunable EFI..trying that with the merc stuff is like playing russian ruliet..
