Default Lake Cumberland level

Good news today from the Louisville, KY Corps of Eng. office. They are ahead (really, seems like they've been working on it forever?) of schedule on the Wolf Creek dam repairs, currently to be completed in December 2013. They are raising the lake level about 20' from it's current level to 700/705' elevation. Great news for those of us who remember 76 Falls back in it's heyday as the original LC Party cove .
If you haven't been there, it's in the same creek arm as Grider Hill Marina, which after years of my training Butch still calls "Grinder Hill". I told him it's his world and he could call it whatever he wants to .
So maybe beads, bikinis, and beer at 76 Falls and the Thunder Run this year? I hope so !
Steve

I for one hope Harmon stays busy. That is way closer to me than 76 Falls.

I just hope the drift is not crazy bad. Not going up all the way to 720 will help...............

Good question Jeff,
I believe Dan has set the Thunder Run for June again. I know I don't have tell anyone who has been to this one, he and his crew/organization are doing an excellent job. It's on my list from now on.
There is a long list of other runs before then, but mostly elsewhere. RB Hixson just sent me an extensive list of Poker Runs for this year. I'll see if I can find it.
Thanks,
Steve

Isn't that the truth. I think the plan, if I understand the Corp correctly, is that this is (20'+ to 700/705') halfway to what is normal full summer pool. I assume they will be raising it the rest of the way in Spring 2014. That will open up a lot of water back in the creeks.
The lake has been down so long, there is bound to be a lot of debris on the banks.

The spring rains from last year should have washed a lot of the banks clean. From what i understand, the water going up this spring should not make for much debris at all this season. Which is good news!

Thunder Run is set for June 21-23 for 2013, we are discussing possibilities of having the raft up at 76 falls this year instead of harmon, will post details and update website as plans are set.
