I am thinking about swapping my 496mag to a 500efi can somebody tell me what the connector pin count is my 496 is a 9 pin and any other hurdles to jump to do this swap. IT is going in a 288 sunsation using a bravo drive.

Depends on the year of boat & engine/serial number your 496 is?

You may have either a 10 pin or a 14 pin connector. 2006 was the change between the two.

Googling mercruiser 14 pin to 10 pin connector harness shows lots of options for conversions if needed.

If the 496 is a 10 (or 9) pin, then the 500 efi will plug right in without any adapters. Should be a straight forward plug and play.
