I am looking at buying an 88' Stinger, but could use some advice on what to look for in a boat like this, and also what I should expect to repair/upgrade/renew if I buy it. I am very familiar with bow riders and cruisers, but high performance boats are not something I know a lot about. Any advice you guys can throw my way is great!

Get a survey. Both structural and mechanical.

That'll be a good starting point. Thanks. Anything to look for before I spend $500 on a survey? This boat has only been in fresh water btw.

What drives and power? Nice trailer? Good interior? How was it taken care of and stored? Plenty of variables. I have no experience with those boats but finding out it is dry and solid is a huge step in the right direction.

Btw they have some cool oldschool lines. Dig it!

I'm working on posting some pics. The boat has 454's and Alpha 1 drives.

And it does come with te original tandem Myco trailer...seems like 7200 lbs is a lot for a tandem trailer, but the axles are rated for 5000 lbs each..

Alpha drives are a very weak spot for a heavy boat with 454's.

I misspoke. This boat has Bravo 1 drives...better fit?
