I just installed an alpine cda-9886m head unit along with alpines mc20 commander remote. The radio works fine, the remote powers up, and displays information, but it will not control the radio. It seems like the commander is frozen? Does any one have this set up? Or tips to get it to work?

I have 2 mc remotes plus a key fob paired to my 9886m. all can control all sources, although ipod control is difficult.

I tried to pair it with the radio on, and once with the radio switch to iPod mode with an iPhone connected. Initially when everything powered up I was getting radio display on the commander, but couldn't use any of the functions no volume or seek etc.
When I installed the antenna portion for the commander to the back of the radio I used a ground, 12v source and the 10 pin connector that plugs into the radio, their were a couple other connections that were their that I didn't use could this be the problem? The instructions are kind of vague for the commander!!!

I had this set up in my old SeaRay. It was a royal PITA to get set up and never really worked that well. Big fail for Alpine. If I remember correctly, there are two 10 pin connectors on the head unit. Make sure the 8mm plug is plugged in the head unit and try the other 10 pin connector. Make sure you reset the MC20 and use the new pairing procedure each time you try the other connector. You can also call the Alpine tech line.

Should have a 3.5mm & a 10pin connected to the 9886m from the mc20's add on module. the 3.5mm is actually the steering wheel control so if that's not plugged in, maybe that's why I cant actually control the unit.
I definitely had to read the directions 10x before I started. good luck.
