Good advice. I never had any desire for a tatoo until I started dating my current wife at 27. Since then I've loosened up a lot and wouldn't mind getting one but can't really think of anything I want. Boating or something related to the island lifestyle are the only things in my life that I'm confident will stay constant forever. Almost got a Corona bottle but a friend has one and didn't want to copy. Still somewhat considering a 5 blade prop but am not really enthusiastic about it. Only other thing I've really thought about is a jolly roger flag.
Do a search on here, there was a tatoo thread several years ago that had lots of boating related stuff.

Got my first one at 21, just finished up a 1/2 sleeve on Thursday and I'll be 39 next month.
Not a horrible idea to wait...or, if you want to get something...make it non-specific. Who knows, you might be a sailboater in 10 years, and your fellow sailboaters will hate on you if you have a powerboat tat.
For the record...Magic Medicine has a good one...

bad influence tat is in memory of my good friend Straight Jacket...I got it the day after he died.
The sleeve started as a pirate flag...specifically Blackbeards flag...but faded and washed out badly, so I covered it first with a "Black hole sun," and then filled everything in with stuff I like...namely skulls, flames, and bicycle chainrings (I spend a lot more time on two wheels than I do behind a boat wheel).
Also..if you do it...by all means GO TO A GOOD ARTIST. Its worth it.

Agreed. I have one from when I was about 19, and another from when I was in my early 20s (I'm now 42). I'd like to cover both of them up, but over a few years of thinking about it, I still haven't come up with something I think I'll like forever.
