Default Put-in-bay

Ok guys, I'm supposed to be going to put-in-bay in two weeks with 6 other boats. I have been there a couple times but never by boat. After some research, I must say, Im a little concerned on the docking situation. Is this something I should not worry about? Is there a private marina to keep boat at? Not worried about cost as much as boat rafted to others unknown. Leaving Friday morning through Sunday, and not sleeping on boat. Others I'm going with are sleeping on theirs. So basically what should I be concerned with the most? Any info would be great as I'm sure lots of you have done this. Thanks.

Public docks are party central. Miller Marina is nice and my preference because I usually raft off a friend and can come and go all weekend, but no way you are getting a reservation two weeks out. The Boardwalk does have some docks right by the restaurant, and the mooring buoys which aren't bad, the buoy taxi runs until 1:00 AM, but if you aren't staying on your boat you don't need to worry about it.

I would reccommend "B Dock" if you all arrive together they will raft you up together whenever possible. We have never had an issue there, and usually the wont raft an offshore up to a cruiser unless you are the last boat out. Keeps people from walking accross the sunpad etc. and keeps us like minded guys together. The dock guys take great care of the boats, and i have left my boat there unattended several times and never had an issue. Be sure to radio on 68, or pull up with fenders out and approach slowly to get the dock guys attention. DO NOT just pick a spot and tie up. They work very hard to keep everyones stuff safe and they will guide you in. If you try to just tie off yourself you will get barked at! Give me a buzz or shoot me a text when you're headed over, we may be there

Miller marina is a great spot too. It's out of the thinck of downtown, and you get an actual slip. Good option if you dont want to be in the middle of it all.

Yep B dock or Miller. If you want to be able to escape the madness definitely Millers, nice clean friendly facility i have stayed there several times. If you want the party life B dock it is, although its not as nuts as it was in years past its still a great. The dockmaster (Jon) runs the place very well and very respectful, I have never had an issue with rafted boats and if you are on the inside they will tend to getting you out. Generally the group out there is good boat people just like us.(generally lol)

When you arrive by boat and come into B dock they will wave you in and are pretty good at orchestrating things around there. If your with a group they will keep you together if at all possible.

When i stay on B dock i have a bit of a ritual. I dont start partying till rather late, sometimes dont have my first drink till ten or eleven. When the last Jet Express leaves is when the fun starts, you can spot drunk stragglers that missed the last boat easy. They wander up and down the docks looking for a party to crash lol. Once in a while you'll get a guy that thinks you'll take him back to the mainland for fifty bucks lol. We had a group from a bachelorette party mis the ferry once . . . . yea . . . that was fun

North end of lake st clair. I believe it's something like 80-90 miles roughly one way.
