Looking to buy a sunsation 288. It'll be my first. Everything being the same HP,prop, gear ratio, etc...is there any difference in speed/performance between year models ex 2002-2005 etc. Thanks for any input.

I have a 2003 with the Vortec hull, 496 Mag, 24p Bravo1 with a full tank two adults i can hit 62 mph turning about 4400 rpm. Best i have ever seen is 63 low on fuel and turing 4500-4600 rpm. i'm told the HO motor on my hull its a 67mph boat. "CrownLPX" on here has i think an 05 with the step hull and the HO engine i have messaged him via OSO about upgrading to the HO motor and he mentioned he can hit 70-72. I saw his boat at Cumberland last weekend but did get to run with him as i missed my flight filling up at the gas dock.

I'm running a 2004 288 Sunny with the 496 with a whipple and a set of CMI headers with dual ram ext steering and currently running a Hydromotive 5 blade 27Pitch and hitting 82 on dash Speedo
and still can pull the kids on a tube. Sunsation 288 will give you the best of both worlds IMO.

I have an '06 but same hull as the '05. Bounces between 71/72 running 4800-4900 in slight water conditions with a half tank and 3 people. Found with a little trim and running tabs neutral (not in the full up) adds a tick or two to the GPS. That was a phone with a GPS.
