Default Ridiculous marine pricing on IAC valve

I had a IAC valve fail on one of the 6.2's this weekend. Fortunately I carry a spare and swapped it out in a couple minutes. Just need a 3/16" Allen wrench.

So yesterday I was looking online to get a spare. It is MerCruiser part number 862998. The usual place I purchase MerCruiser parts wanted $123! Everywhere I looked online was $110+. I buy a lot of autoparts at rockauto.com and have found them to have VERY good pricing. Turns out they also carry this part and it is only $43. Just a heads up for those not wanting to throw money out the window.

'Wow' is exactly what I said after seeing the difference in price. I just knew $120 for something like this was nuts. This is the 3rd IAC valve I've had to replace on these 6.2's since 2006.

Oh boy. Mine was probably acting up 2-3 years ago, they don't really last long. After the alarms went off, and I got to shore, they came down and did the job for about $250.

That darned cheap crappola IAC valve! It costs me power, RPM's and speed.

Would they know which one I would need for a spare on a 97 454 mag MIPS.? Or do I need to find the part number?
