Was wondering I have a 1996 Baja performance cuddy 25th anniversary 26 foot with a 300 horse 7.4 litre was thinking of taking of the spread bore carb and going to a holly 750 smooth bore with a 1 inch spacer over the intake thinking it would deliver fuel more even to cylinders and make more power is that right? its running rich now

That might give you 10-20 more HP but you will never see the difference in a boat. In a car you might get 1/10 of a second in the 1/4 mile. If you want more speed do as stlliberator says and start with another engine.

I would have to say that putting the spacer on would hurt the performance of the engine. Your basically increasing the plenum area of the intake which in return will raise the rpm band of the motor. And with the smaller cubic inch heads and cam I think it will hurt performance.

thanks for the info Guys! It works fine but runs a little rich but rich is better then lean. But a little slow on speed only 55 mph best ever was like 58 with a 2 foot chop . I was a auto tech for 25 years but never really delt with boats so I did not know if would make much of a difference or not.
