Default 1000 island poker run

With all the great coverage of the other runs on the same weekend I haven't seen any reference to the poker run that used to be the Be All and End All of events.

Did anyone on here go this year ?

How many boats were there ?

Any pics ??

I was there as a spectator. Not many boats. Those that were were beautiful. Outerlimits and MTI were the main boats there. Watching the big cruisers coming into the marina on Sunday during the high winds was the real show. It was like bumper cars with boats.

I've attended that when there was over 160 boats.

Someone said Reggie was there.

Yes he was there. ( I was standing next to him)

The run has shrunk over the past few years.

Alec, It has gotten outa control on cost and if you don't have a million dollar boat it seems as though you aren't really welcome. That's just what I have been told. I didn't even go up to spectate this year as I heard they don't even let you on the docks if you don't have a boat there.

Reggie Fountain throttled a Saris Racing powered 42 Poker Run at it. Owner of the boat said it was another great event!

I hear ya bud

There has always been the comparison between for profit events verses club events at a lower cost.

But it really comes to light when two examples are on exactly the same weekend.

BUFFALO 1.
ISLANDS. 0

The photography coverage on here really makes a huge difference too.

Tim promoted Buffalo big time.

Well you were allowed on the docks to view boats np at all, for sure the numbers were down but the hardware was still nice. The 55 Mti with 1075 didn't finish, he was stuck in brockville. We had some skaters Mti outer Donzi scarab sensation nor tech and a few fountains

It's to bad they are letting this thing slide, they need someone with some vision to take hold of this and make it a true destination point, there is so much potential ...

Even brockville ( lunch pit stop) has out door live music with a huge rib fest on the go,

All the pieces are there, I spoke to a couple guys that were 1st timers at this event and would be curious to their impressions one gentleman in particular from jersey ( his blue ol is now for sale on here , the 44 with 1075) and get his take on it

I have been there to watch the boats for the last 10 years, I believe last year or the year before you WEREN'T allowed on the docks, some years you are, marina employee who told me I couldn't come on docks a few years ago was a complete GOOF!

I agree there is a lot of rich Aholes with HUGE ego's who go there and it DOES feel like if you don't have a 500K boat then your not welcome, Way TOO many "guido" types, big bank account, trophy wife full of plastic, and LOTS of attitude )-:

These drawbacks USED to be tolerable when you got to see 100+ killer boats, now?......

Having said that, I found the Aqua Mania to be some really nice, approachable guys, same goes for Double R, super nice guys, sadly, it's the "bad" you seem to remember )-:
