So I replaced the alternator in the beginning of the season and today heard a squeak-ish type sound at high RPM. Also heard it pretty evident at idle and noticed my V-Belt was loose... THEN I also noticed my crankshaft pulley had a slight wobble... What do you guys recommend?
- Should I just replace the belt and make sure the tension is correct to see if this fixes the wobble?
- And if it doesn't fix it am I running a major risk running the boat for the remainder of the season with the wobble (It isnt wobbling enough to slip a belt or anything, at least yet)
- What is entailed in pulling the crankshaft pulley?
- What else should I be replacing while I'm doing this job besides the harmonic balancer?
- And last will this job require pulling the motor?
The boat is a 1989 Formula 242SS with a 1995 Gen V 7.4L 454
Thanks in advance!
