Default installing K Plane 280's

How difficult is it to install K Planes in a twin engine boat with engines installed. I almost did this during my re-power.

Well...today I lost a Bennett Sport Tab running in rough seas in the ocean...snatched the hinge plate out and snapped the plastic strut right off....so I am seriously considering it.

Shouldn't be real hard John. Accessing transom where tabs mount would most difficult.

The tabs itself are not hard to install.....You will need to fill the holes from the bennett tabs and the k-planes need 6 holes plus you will have to mount the trim pumps. If you are installing indicators...1 more for the cable and you have to run 2 cables to the dash. How much space you have inside of the hatch is a different story.

It would suck. Unless you are tiny.

Time-wise it would probably be a wash, whether you pull the engines back out and do things the easy way, or try to squeeze in and out with the engines in the way.

Personally I would pull the engines. Maybe try it with the outside manifolds removed first and see if that gives you enough room to work.

I am not tiny...6-3 255..LOL. Pulling the outside manifolds may give a smaller person access to do it. Labor wise doing it that way may be the way to go.

If I pull the engines out of this 255 again it will be to put them and the drives in another boat.

An easier install might be Lenco HD SPort tabs. Dont have to mess with the pumps as they are electric actuated. I have a set on my Velocity 260 and they have as much if not a little more surface area than a 280 K-Plane.

The Lenco (Heavy Duty) ar ethe way to go. Use all the bennet mounting holes and are Stainless instead of aluminum. Great product.
