serial tag is D845014 block casting looks is 14096859
trying to determine year generation etc

block is 502 ho gen5 thats all i can come up with.

You don't need a serial number for that info.

If it has a fuel pump mount on the engine block, its a Mark IV
If it has no fuel pump provision and a stamped steel timing chain cover, its a Gen V.
If it has no fuel pump provision and a cast timing chain cover, its a Gen VI

also the gen6 only has 6 bolts on timing chain cover.
