Default GM 6.0 Gas Mods?

Hey guys I picked up a 06 GMC 2500 HD with a 6.0 and I was looking into doing some mods. I already put a K&N intake system on it but i'm thinking of doing more. In your guys experience what mods are worth the money to do on this truck? THe truck really only comes out on the weekend to pull the boat or the sled trailer. I'm looking at doing some longer trips this summer and would like a little extra power. Let me know the good, the bad, and even the ugly! Thanks

Exhaust and some type of power chip are your best options.
Contrary to popular belief, K&N and the like, just rob you of fuel mileage. More air means you need more fuel to mix with said air.

Another investment would be a set of wider wheels/tires for your summer towing. You will notice a stability increase with wider (E-rated) tires when towing the boat in the summer. As for the winter, leave the factory pizza cutters on with the aggressive meats.

Great looking truck!

Exhaust will free up some hp for sure. I have a 2010 gmc custom 3" flowmaster on mine and a diablo programmer. I love it.

Check out silveradosierra.com it is kind of OSO for these trucks.

exhaust dont do jack,,just makes more noise and thats it...we dynoed a friends truck that we put a performance exhaust on and before and after,,the performance exhaust hury the performance in the midrange..what was the biggest differance was sending his pcm to some guy in new york and the guy reprogramed it..knocked like a second and a half off the 1/4 mile time..your plug and play programmer dont cut it either..http://www.blackbearperformance.com/services.asp#

What axle gear ratio's are you running? I don't know what the 6.0's had as options but my '05 Avalanche 2500 4X4 with 8.1 motor had 4.10 gears and it made a bid difference.

Get a black bear tune. I had them reprogram my vortec 454. Noticeable difference in power, and shifts much nice now.

Above is true..... Blackbear / justin is like the GM guru....! Highly recommended
He did a custom tune through email on my 1500 vortech max truck....took out all the torque management & the thing was like a zippy little rocket...... Plus we saw 120 on the speedo.. As well.
Can't go wrong there!

Sounds like Black Bear knows their stuff they will get a call from me soon. I am also thinking of doing some suspension upgrades to the truck. I don't want to get to out of control just a small lift to give it a better stance. does anyone have any suggestions on products they have used? Best bang for the buck? I love this truck and will more than likely keep it for a while so I want to make it last. Thanks for the help guys!

Cognito makes the best suspension stuff. The have new front control to change ball joint angle and heavy duty ball joints. Check them out. I've done a lot of research on lifting these. Also the 6.0 is waiting to make oodles of power. A cam heads and tune will net serious power. Or blower!!
