Default Installing A Transducer in a Vyper

Just bought a new Garmin 546S for my 2000 Stepped hull Vyper. Wandering if anyone has installed an in hull Tranducer in this boat.
If so can you give me some tips based on your experiences with your install. I purchased the Dual frequency 12 to 45 degree in hull unit
that I need to epoxy in somewhere

I believe that most are put under the fridge just before the first step. If you put it anywhere after the step you will get inaccurate readings.

When you pull the fridge is there plenty of room to install the new transducer ? Where did you install the new one compared to the factory depth finder transducer location. How did it work on top at faster speeds ?

As far as working, when you are going fast by the time you see something it is too late anyway. IMO, only good for idling to see what the depth is.

take a long razor blade/knife cut the silicone around the old depth finder,,remove and install the new one in the original hole,,,and run the new cable to the dash along the old cable and zip tie new cable to original cable for a nice clean job

Boatnt,
Did you install a new transducer in yours ? How much room do you have to place the new one, by Pwraddr's pics there isn't much room ahead of the front step.
How big of a hole do you have to cut in the plywood floor under the fridge ?

I did it on a friends 38...
its simple,,,once you remove the fridge its right there,,,no plywood to mess with ,,the fridge sits on kind of a side track,,,you dont even have to mess with the wiring on the fridge, its long enough, just unscrew and pull out and place it on the side,
remove the depth finder transducer and install and epoxy the new one in the existing hole,,

Hey Tom,

When I had my fridge out there is a plywood shelf that the fridge and air conditioner and bottom of the storage under the sink. By my build photos there would need a hole drilled in it to access underneath.

Can't remember how to post pics or I would.

Rich, post the pics I sent so Tom can see what I mean, maybe he knows something that will help.
