good bad or ugly ford dodge chevy 1/2 ton
#1
I have had fords for the last 20 yrs no problems. Thinking about f150 super crew. Eco boost ? or V-8 towing occasionally 500 miles but mostly around town.Boat is rack stored mostly. Looking for best fuel economy but will be pulling the powerplay around which weighs 7500 lbs.
One of my subs has the dodge 1500 and tells me he gets 21 w an 8 speed automatic, ugly truck though huge wheel wells. but cheap.
Now Chevy?looks better than dodge but whats the deal on power and mileage ?
If anyone has some exp good bad ?

Since you're considering all three it really is going to be up to your personal taste. Drive them, kick the tires and bust the salesmen(s) balls until you find the truck that you like and is a good fit. Because everyone one of us has had great, fair and awful experiences with our trucks that we have owned over the years, I haven't owned a truck that hasn't been in the shop for some form of warranty or service issues (Fords and a GMC).
Just my $0.02.

I was GM only since 1989, had 10+ and bought all of them new, most went over 100K before they got traded/sold. Went to buy another 1500 Crew in 2011 and couldn't find one made in America (all made in Silao, Mexico) so I bought a new leftover platinum F150 (nicest truck I have ever owned as far as interior/options). Truck has 35K on it now and it is fine though it never has been as tight as a GM (everything from steering feel to slamming the door). It has never been back to the shop and the only money I put in it was for a new set of Michelin LTX's.....factory Pirelli Scorpions sucked.
I had an employee wreck a truck last month (2004 GMC) so I went and bought a new one and went back to Chevy, never looked at Ford/Dodge. Bought a new leftover 2013 Silverado (stripper WT series work truck, zero options). It was only $1900 more than the one I bought new in 2004! This has cruise control, more air bags and 17 inch wheels.....the 2004 had no cruise, 2 airbags and 16 inch wheels. Truck is nice (for a stripper) and is Made in Indiana!
I don't love the new body style and they just had a recall on 300,000 trucks for engine fires (google it) but I would buy a 2014 2500/3500 before they re-style that truck for 2015!
In a perfect world I would want a Ford interior in a GM truck with a Dodge price!

I've got 45k on my FX4 EcoBoost F150 Super Crew. Have had no issues to date and love it. Pulls my 30 with no issues. Good mileage for what it is. I'm consistenly 18-19 mpg, however it's all in how you drive and how hard the turbos are working.
I've also heard great things about the 5.0 for those that don't need the full towing capacity of the 3.5 or 6.2's. Plus, Ford has better discounts on the 5.0's. Mileage is essentially the same or within a mile of the EB.
Not a big fan of the new Chevy's...looks wise.

as said above, everyone has personal preference on each brand and everyone will say the other brands suck. So drive them all, kick the tires, etc. They all get similar economy now too. What ever puts a smile on your face. I've always been a Chevy/GMC man and have had 6. Never had an issue with any of them and I love my current Duramax.

Go drive a 2007 and up Tundra. I was astounded at how much I really liked the truck.
I honestly can't believe I am typing that; especially since I've only had Big-3 trucks, (currently a 1-ton Ford, 3/4-ton Dodge, and just sold 1/2-ton GM; owned two other GMs in past).
I was shopping used trucks, loaded, leather etc. etc. for a daily driver. Before I knew it, I was l looking at tricked out, lifted, tweaked out Tundras. I took a step back, and bought another boat instead; putting off the daily driver purchase for the moment. But I'll jump on a Tundra CrewMax Limited 4x4 if I find a deal in a heartbeat.

NO ONE was more surprised than me!
The only two things I could complain about on the Tundra:
-the seats were a little too firm for my taste; too euro.
-the price on pre-owned trucks was more than the Big-3 of similar vintage and mileage.
