Default Just bought a heat outdrive and propping questions?

I just bought a 97 28' heat MCOB and am currently having a motor built for it and should be around 600 horse, just curious about what prop do you think I'll be able to swing? Do you think a nose cone on my stock bravo 1 drive would be worth buying? Also I've been reading on the drive spacers? And last what kind of speed do you think I should see out if it? This is my first nordic so I'm always eager to learn. Thanks Brent

I'm running a 2000 Heat with a 502whipple charged 600+hp, bravo 1xr, labbed 28 bravo, and hitting 74 @ 5100rpm. I'm getting a lot of prop slip and Ben thinking about the nose cone as well. If this

Yes that is helpful, Are you running any drive spacer? That may help with the slipping

What ratio is your outdrive? If it's a 1.50 an your numbers are all accurate that's around 18% prop slip

Ratio is 1.50, no drive spacer yet.

Best way to reduce your slip numbers are a 1" drive spacer and/or a 5 blade propeller.

My 98 heat had a lower x dimension then the newer boats with the step, it always ran best with non labbed stock bravo props. My friend that has it now put a 2" shorter imco lower with 1" spacer and it gained a couple mph in the upper 80's and lost a few at cruise but it did make the boat more stable at top speed with the shorter drive height, it always had great cruise speed that is why I never raised it but it did want to chine walk at top speed. We have tried my 5 blade p5x and my Maximus prop on it and it lost speed with both but my 2010 heat is faster with the 5 blade props.

I have run P5-Xs on my boat with good success right out of the box. I have a 29" worked by Throttle up and a 30" worked by Herring.
They are both great props. Other designs like the Maximus can work too, but it's going to take more customizing.
A friend has a 30" 5 blade Herring that runs really well on his Heat. I've never run it..
The 5 blades work well on step hull Heats because the X dimension is high, leaving very little submerged blade area in the water to lift our relatively large singe engine boats.
Mine are very stable at all speeds.
