Bought a scarab 1 last year with a 350 sbc 39hrs on it from an estate sale for $1000 with a trailer but the trailer doesn't have a title
When I brought it home the windshield was broken so that came off the motor turned over by hand and had 0 rust in the cylinders
I threw a carb on it because the old carb that was on it was all seized up it was a holly double pumper and I changed it over to a holly 650 cfm with vacuum secondaries and I got rid of the points distributor and installed an MSD drop in unit with a magnetic pic up for a 350 sbc and a new set of headers
The throttle was all torn apart and missing stuff so I bought a mercruiser throttle set up that didn't need much to hook up also I installed a new steering cable
These were some pics from when I brought it home
It ran fine last year but it needs updating bad ...this boat was sitting in a garage since 1993 and apparently bored to a 355 it had a high rise intake on it so it was not good getting up on plane
Next up is a new interior thanks to Brad at Driven Performance on bowleys quarters rd
As for the motor I will be installing a set of 89 aluminum corvette heads torquer 2 intake a comp marine cam with .510 lift and a set of Eddie marine headers with the help of Tony at CMS racing
The interior is already out and tomorrow I'll be building the wood for the seats and them dropping them off to get redone and hopefully the motor will come out this week
If you guys have any input let me know....this is a very dry boat as far as I can tell

^^^^flush out after every run. It can be done just be careful Bob. We did it with a set of big brodix heads but it didn't stay in the water very long. And if it were press in rocker studs which I doubt they were on corvette heads. Anything over .500 of lift with press in studs is a no no.

Yea I figured id have to settle for a 500rwhp car an not 700. Lol I'd rather have everything running decent then just having 1 really good runner. Bring the carb down dads. I'm sure we can make it work. I have plenty of Jets to test with.
What Tim really needs is power steering. I nicked my good 4 blade coming out of Joppa. Need to send that out soon. Did you run gps last year? What prop?

Ok cool and I ran 2 different pitched 21 blade props but the one that came on it wouldn't even allow me to get on plane I tried a aluminum 19 and topped out at 4900 K and 40 mph the prop I have now gets me like 53 54 on gps at 4200 but it wasn't tuned right at all.....and dam that sucks I can have it tinged at my work if you want unless they will fix it for u
