I have a 2000 Cobalt 226 that I would like to add a Transom Trim/Tilt Switch.

Do I need to go to Cobalt and get the switch or are there some aftermarket folks that would have what I need. I also assume that the wiring would most likely be somewhere in the back end since it was an option???

Any help would be appreciated

It's Mercury part #87-815200A02. Around $50.

Depending on where you want to mount it, it's an easy job. You will have to drill a 1/2" hole at the mounting location. Also, you want to mount it in close proximity to your trim pump. The harness is not that long.

can this be added so I would have one on the transom and one on the shift lever?

The thing I like the best about those switches is that I don't have to climb under the cover to raise and lower the drive when the boat is on the trailer.

They come in handy. The boat should never be stored with the drives up.

Easy install. Done a few of them. As stated, locate near the trim pump. Plug and play. Just make sure to drill the big hole perpendicular to the mounting surface or it wil not sit flush and the gasket won't seal..
