Default Older birds, do you still use you windshield light?

Just wonder what people have done with the flip up lights on the windshield? Still using them, removed and use a new style stern light, or something else?

I have been thinking about removing mine. The main reason is when I'm night running that light is right in my eyes and I never get to adjust to the darkness. Feels like it is blinding me the whole time, and yes I only have the front 180 deg of the light on.

I am interested in this also as my light is removed right now. I have not boated at night, nor do I intend to so doing fine. But I need to either replace it with a new one or install something else. Will be interesting to see what people recommend.

Good question, thanks!

when I had my 1976 IMP X246 I raised the light a foot and solved the problem.

Since my flip up light was bad and the base corroded, I thought about adding a removable post light that would snap in to a new socket on the dash to the right side of the entry door. Then it could be stored in a side compartment since I will rarely if ever use it on a day boat

I removed mine and put a tall stern light on. If you are less then 39.4 feet then you do not need the one on the windshield.

I was thinking about removing the front one and getting a battery powered clamp on for the back. Something like this? Maybe I'll look and see if there is room to hard wire one in.

Although I do love the old school/big boat look of the half light up front and the transom light out back.
