Default 7.4 Thermostat housing old or new??

Please help my thermostat housing got lost in a move and refurbish. I have a 1988 Chaparrel Villian 111 with a 7.4 Mercruiser Bravo1 and cant figure out if my housing was the old design or new. This has been a 5 year project and planned on getting in the water this year (so please don't judge me for not knowing, I cant remember ha ) The model # on the valve cover is worn off so not sure on model #

Thanks for the help

Ayuh,.... You can use the old style, Or the new style, so long as ya plumb yer manifolds to match,...

I imagine the original was the old style, with the check-balls,...

The second one looks like a raw water cooled thermostat.

You referring to cold vs warm manifolds? http://www.perfprotech.com/blog/arti...d-cooling-tips

The first pic is my raw water early setup. But it's a merc warm type thermostat housing if I'm not mistaken. This is the newer version of that:
