Just wanted to pass this along to my oso peeps.

Right now advance auto parts is having a sale on Valvoline racing oil. The conventional VR1 oil is $3.99 qt (reg $5.99). The synthetic racing VR1 is 5.49 qt (reg $9.19). The store i was at still had the reg price marked on the shelf, but when they ring it up the discount applys.

Also, oreillys has the synthetic version only on closeout too. $2.67 a quart. But, not much left in their stock, at least around my neck of the woods. They didnt even have it on the shelves. I had to call a few stores and each store only had a few quarts in the back room.

I know alot of guys run the VR1 oil, and its spring time, so wanted to pass it along. Please, lets not turn this into an oil debate thread!

2. I'm in a less than savory Detroit neighborhood across from an O'Reilly's right now. What are the odds the locals are putting premium oil in their '87 Oldsmobiles and 2001 Hyundais?


To answer that question--- not very good odds. Got 12 quarts 20w50 for $35.

How many more horsepowers will I gain with the use of this oils? This is in a Mercury Racing 525 application. Thanks yous.

None, but independent testing shows a marked decrease in wear to the muffler bearings and canuter valve when used in sub-zero temperatures in Fiat engines.

5 quart jugs of Mobil1 15w50 were $26 at Wal*Mart last night too.

Funny you say that. I hit up 3 oreilly stores in the ghetto section of chicago this morning. They were the only ones to have any left in stock.

Some guy walks in while im checking out. He says

I have not yet replaced my canuter valves on these motors. I'm waiting until 500 hours.
