Yes it can be done if you have the knowledge and tools!
I am sure you current Bravo will be just fine behind a light 232 Baja. Enjoy what you

Thanks!
Did you know what parts must be changed?
The gearset and bearing set,but what else?
Housings are the same?
i am a bit frightend that my 8.2 MAG HO with Whipple PCM will destroy the Standart Bravo to fast!
I look for an X Upper, but at moment to much as the buy of engine eats most of money!

There are a lot of differences between an older B1 and a newer B1 X. The difference between a newer B1 and newer B1X is the steel tower in the upper case. I am not sure if the B1 X comes with the XR ribbed top cap, that also has a steel tower in it.
Without experience, better left to those that have done it successfully.
Hope that helps.

Money wise,,,,, you are probably better off selling yours complete, and buying what you want complete.

Yes, they come with a ribbed top cap. I have a few as spares.

My new engine comes with an 3X but i dont know that it was same upper, and sold it as i want drive bravo one!
i have someone that work allways with drives and i let him make the upgrade!
but it looks that i better use my old bravo this summer and look then for an newer upper!
i send my old upper to this guy to check it! when all is ok,he mean i can use it if not allways Holeshot and jumping out of water!
maybe someone has an slightly used X upper for sale here for a good price as shipping to germany is not cheap!

I'm not the drive expert here but I do not believe that the differences between the X and pre-X are substantial enough to justify the change. I'd run it until it breaks and upgrade to an XR upper which has the stronger straight cut gears.

I believe all bravo uppers are interchangeable. you could use the 3x upper with a B1 lower and have the stronger upper. then put B! upper on the 3 and sell it.

Just stirring the pot but, that is debatable. I truly wonder how much stronger the newer XR gears are. You have more surface area with X gears.

This of course is for another thread all together but what the heck Im just throwing it out there.... Some people say X drives are a tick faster, some say no.
