Hey Eviltwin,

I drilled the rivits out of the end plates and removed them from the mufflers.

WOW, the wife and I were both very happy. It is not as good as no mufflers at all, but I would say at least 30% better than it was.

The headers on the 500's like to sing at about 3000 RPM and I have really missed that. It was much better today.

I got to tell you that those rivits are a real ***** to drill out. I tried three different size bits, and two different type bits and they do not drill easy. Those have to be the toughest rivits made.

Thanks again.

Boss,

I'm glad that it made an improvement. They do sound better when you let them breath. You wouldn't figure that just those little cones can make such a difference, but they definitly do. With a boat like yours, you want it to sound NICE. Wait until you hear it with the mufflers removed! You will really love it. I did get some shots of the dash and floating water shots that I will get developed as soon as I can and send to the Daze man! Looking forward to Thursday I'm heading to Alex-bay for the poker run!!!

Evil,

You going to come down and help me change those tips. The wife says the sooner the better. I told her it will be her Christmas present.

The poker run should be great. I hear Alexander Bay if a very pretty place. Enjoy and sent back some good photo's.

Boss,

I could always use a road trip! NC would be great change of pace. Perfect, love buying the women the things we want and say its for them! Honey, I thought you could use a new 4-wheeler, or a new Snowmobile (not down there though), or a new road bike etc. But it sounds like we are lucky, our significant others enjoy boating so much it makes it easy on us.

Hey Boss,

Was this a Corsa Q&Q system? That's what I've got on my 496 and I know it can use some improvement in sound...Way too quiet for my tastes....I want it to make the little old lady in the cruiser next to us pee her panties when I turn the key and fire it.

Did you take any pics of the process?
Thanks!

Too funny. LOL

I did piss off an old guy on a party barge yesterday while trying to pull into the fuel pumps. In his defense, I think he may have been wearing hearing aids. I hope I never get like that in my old age.

Daze,

Yes, mine is the Qiuck & Quiet Plus.

I have the big fat mufflers outside the hull with the flappers on them.

Thanks Boss,
Yep, that's what I have too, the Q&Q Plus.
However, I don't have what you describe out the transom(the muffler tips).

Mine terminate about 2.5-3.0" from the transom and it's just a square cut tube(pipe) with the rubber flappers(salsburry brand I think) on the outside and butterfly valves inside. Is this muffled? Will I gain anything like you did?

Thanks!!!

Hey BD,

I your tips are the curvy-swervy kind seen in these two pictures, than you have silencer tips. These silencer tips can be either angle cut like the picture or straight cut with Salisbury flappers.

Boss,

My 32 runs the corsa system that selects between full transom or fully thru the drive. I can idle up a channel quiet as just about any other boat in the channel. One click of a switch 5500 RPM and 85 MPH later the sound can be deafening.

Take off those silencing tips if your laws down there allow it.

The thread I saw you on last was deleted, get used to the boat. After a while 6 footers will be a challenge instead of an obstacle.

I love that 36 you have.
