Default Mercruiser Head Gasket Sealing

I'm putting a 228 Merc together for a friend. He dropped off everything including the gasket set. The head gaskets are coat stamped steel. What if anything should I use on them to seal things up? I figured just a little hy-tac or something around the water jackets.....

I would not use steel gaskets in a marine engine, use felpro...the steel will rust away with out fresh water cooling which I'm betting this does not have...
