Default Alternative to Mercruiser engine water pump?

I see lots of you guys are able to cross reference parts to automotive items. I think I'm going to replace my engine water pump while I'm doing my impeller. What are you guys going with? It's an 86 350.

don't use an automotive circ pump on a raw water cooled marine engine. You can google why

You need the marine unit for the stainless impeller and back plate.

And the internal bearing sealing is better corrosion resistance compared to the auto side.

I had a water pump go bad and just bought the auto version and pressed the NEW bearing assembly out of the new one and installed it in the boat one. Worked perfect and never leaked.

Seems like a lot of trouble when a replacement marine pump is only 100 bucks or so.. mercury retail is 144.00

And not sure about this as for this year but the Sierra water circ for V-6 and V-8 small blocks (the same pump used) was the exact same that mercruiser used . Cheaper in price on the Sierra side.
