I am thinking about stepping up from a 25p to a 26p and I wanted some opinions. When I purchased the boat it came with a 22p 4 blade LHR prop, a 24p 4 blade LHR prop and a 24p 4 blade that was worked into a 25p 4 blade LHR prop. I have never ran the 22p on the boat. The 24p comes out of the hole good and has alot of mid-range power but the engine is turning alot of rpms even at cruising speed. 4000 rpm at 50mph if I remember correctly. The 25p is the prop that I run all the time and the boat comes out of the hole good, has good mid-range power and I can spin it up to 5700 rpm (on the limiter) for a top speed on GPS of 76 mph. The engine makes 600 hp and 640 ftlbs dyno verified. With the power that she has now at mid-range and hitting the limiter I was thinking about trying a 26p prop and see if I can pick up a few mph and also not turn so many rpm's at all the other speeds. The boat is a 29' Fountain Fever with a stepped hull with a 600hp/640ftlbs engine with a Bravo XR drive.
One of my questions is, would it be better to purchase a labbed 26p or just a non-labbed prop?
The other things is I'm wondering if my ole 510" has enough in her to pull the 26p up to 5700 rpm.
Any thoughts, suggestions, opions or guidance is greatly appreciated.
Oh, and I need to sell this 22p prop that I have since I will never use it. Its brand new!
Thanks,
YOUNG
