How many people think that reggie fountain should not up the vee bottom record

I think it would be more of an honor to Mike Fiore if Reggie did attempt to take back the record. I know Mike wouldn't want to stand in the record books if someone could beat him but wouldnt. The true form of competitive motorsports.
Reggie and Mike should both be honored to have held and been chased for the king of kilo crown. Both men have watched through both vantage points. I think it is truly awesome the risks some of these men take to have a title and entertain us... there isnt any money in it. All about the reckoning.

The current mark is a great achievement by a great man. By spending the effort necessary to beat the current mark, it would only be paying the ultimate respect

In my opinion, it would be and insult to Mike Fiore for anybody to stop pushing the envelope, whether it be speed, efficiency, or stability. It would be much more of an honor to take what has been learned and implement it into future design in order to make them safer, while faster and more stable.

Very honorable suggestion, but I think Mike would want the sport to continue progressing, and for everyone to continue doing what they enjoy.
A new record in honor of Mike Fiore would be a class act.

As a close friend of Mike's, former employee and a person who has been with Mike since before this record chase, I think that if somebody can try to break the record that's how Mike would want it. He was confident his number will stand up for a while, and he would want the attempt to be made.
Mike never wanted nothing for nothing. He believed that you should work hard for what you want and earn it. If somebody is willing to try then that is what the whole spirit of competition is all about.
I can go back to the early days, contrary to all of the threads back and forth about the previous attempts, A LOT of money and effort was spent going after that, we ran down to fountain that year and blew up motors testing and trying. After all the hype, that's what it was always about, earning the respect and setting the mark as a result of hard work. At the same time taking the knowledge gained from triumphs and tribulations and applying them for the better. All of those previous failed attempts were not in vein, many of the bottom designs and technological advances in the Outerlimits product line are the direct result of the efforts.
To let it sit idle would be contrary to what Mike believed in. I am confident and so was Mike that the number laid down this year will be around for a while. But that doesn't mean people shouldn't try.
Just be safe, and good luck.
