Default HELP with trailer claim. Insurance putting it to me after years of paying them!!!!!!

Sooooo boat/trailer fell into a ditch. Insurance paying just fine on boat (drives/prop etc) My issue is with the trailer. Trailer insured for $7k since purchased in 2006. Its a 1999 Alum trip axle, 34ft. Damage is $4,200 and agent stating with "depreciation" that its totaled . I can't replace for $4200 and they want $x ( no offer yet from them) for the remains. Any suggestions on how to get my baby back on wheels ? Just doesn't seem "fair", but as I have said many time, "fair is what you pay to ride the bus".

Do I have any recourse?

Take the settlement then buy the trailer back from your insurance company and fix it. I own G&G Mfg, we build trailers. I'm pretty sure I remember your thread when the accident happened and I doubt your trailer is damaged to the point to where it'll cost over a couple grand to fix it. You fell through a storm drain basin if I remember correctly. Send me some pics of your trailer. I'll able to get pretty close on repair cost from the pics. Hell bring it to me I'll fix it if you want.

I have this exact same concern, but no good advice for you. The insurance company values my 2005 Myco 37-39 Aluminum Welded Trailer at $9K for a total loss.
If my trailer gets stolen or totaled, I can't replace it for that; rather $15K-18K. If my trailer gets stolen with the boat on it, not a big deal. If it gets stolen with the boat in the water, I'm screwed.

I am trying to get an agreed value policy on the trailer, like I have on the boat; but I am not having much luck. I've already jumped through a bunch of hoops. Next one is get an appraisal done; which I'll be coaxing the appraiser to make it close the quote for a new Myco. The thing is, aluminum pricing, both to purchase new and scrap has gone up. My trailer is probably worth more now than when it was new; in the right eyes.

I don't know of any insurance company that would pay Full value for a trailer 9 years old. Ask them at what % rate do they devalue each year.

Right, but as long as I have an agreed value policy, that shouldn't be a concern.

I don't mean for this to be a hijack, but I bet many folks don't think of trailer depreciation and replacement costs.

Not sure who your insurance company is, but when I wrecked my trailer it had a lil bend in the frame rail and they totaled it. They gave me right at 4900 for it then told me to keep the trailer. I did not have to buy it back. So the welder in me boxed it and fixed it lol

this was first thought, but I'm worried about the salvage purchase price 1,000 pounds of aluminum can't be cheap

My daughters Jeep was rear ended and totaled. Ins co offer was too low IMO. I collected about 6 ads for the same vehicle in the same condition and picked 4. Went back to the ins co and told them I would accept any of those as a replacement. They just wrote the check for the average with no further debate. About a thousand more than their previous offer.

Horizon trailer in Galveston took a trailer built for a 47' and cut it down and re-bunked it for a 382 Formula for a very reasonable fee for a friend of mine a couple of years ago. Charlie Patillo is the owner.

Your trailer looks to be very similar to a McLain, they also make repairs and have done good work for people I know. http://www.mcclaintrailers.com/
