Default Staggered engines

I'm sure this question has come up before. Has anyone converted a side by side engines to a staggered engines?

Some triple engine 47 Apaches have been converted along with 46 Scarab. Also some older cig flat decks as well.

Several have been done. The biggest key is how much room in front of engines to back bulkhead. Need enough room to move one forward. I don't think there would be enough benefit in a semi stagger from side by side. So if there isn't enough for a full stagger I don't think I'd do it.

thinking about doing it to my 38 Scarab somehow. It means a complete new transom, all new stringers and most likely move the tanks (or go to saddle tanks) its a project that takes a pretty high level of commitment to say the least. Lots of grunt work but may be worth the effort. I was even trying to figure out a way to get the lowest profile engine (Merc EFI's) and even shorty lowers to get the overall height down to maybe tuck the forward engine under the seat a bit but thats just not looking like its gonna work. I'm just not sure i want to give up cockpit space for it.

What kind of boat are you looking at doing? I have been told it looses its effectiveness on boats under 38 feet but I'm not sure if thats accurate. I even thought about staggering my 27 Mag W Arnesons

there is currently a guy working at LOM at lotto doing a conversion to his 42 fountain. I think his name is Eddie from what I saw on their website It seems quite a challenge. that was a triple setup.

I found an older 80s 38 Top Gun, and my mind went crazy! Thinking of six man standup bolsters and no need for a rear seat but that means moving the bulkhead forward. Would that be possible?

Going with an older 80s 38 Top Gun thinking six man standup bolsters but it means moving the bulkhead forward is this an impossible task?

I believe moving the bulk head forward is the easy part of the job

I did some looking a year or two at what might have to be done and decided it wasn't worth even thinking about. Tanks gotta move, all the electrical, pumps , plumbing and new interior ect on this plus the glass work and transom and stringers. I think if I was going to take on a project like that I'd go back rather than forward. Invest that time and money into cutting the back of the boat off and adding 4' to the back. Find a good glass guy to tie it in nicely. Save the fuel capacity, save the cockpit and turn it into a one off 42... Or buy a different boat. Lol

I don't know. he did have a engineer from fountain design the stringer lay out. from my understanding glass Dave has done similar work though.
