This seems like TOP SECERT info here if it were a automotive transmission everyone would chime in but a velvet drive is hush hush . What have you tried that worked or didn't work just looking for ideas etc. Thanks Guys Jamie

Was it burned up or just a freshening? And not many people will tell much. As you can see.

Just refreshing the units while I have the engines out. Added a few ponies but nothing wild , just torque motors.

they had some clutch pack setups that took more clutches than others, that along with good clutches are all I ever heard about...had mine done not long ago...

I did not raise pressures, mine were done by the same guy who builds my race trans for 30+ years now ATS in springfield va, I did not add clutches in mine...but he told me he had done them for performance boats and added clutches for those apps..was weird, when did mine they were over 10 years old, replacing engines so they were on the floor so figured was the time...he took them down and found NO seal in the reverse piston from day 1..factory FU !!!! had noticed it took 5-10 sec to go into reverse never knew what was up...but was kinda hard to tell in the 50 gibson...

Merc had a different spring for line pressure the original ran up to 25% more pressure when in gear ,and then there were the secret mods of the gen 4 575 and or 500s all I know on those is that they had a driveshaft coupler instead of the flat flange .so if you see one of those kicking around , grab it

extend the pick up tube to more rear of the trans so its deeper in the fluid...with the picks be towards the front of the trans and all the azz end weight the boats sit nose high and the trand will suck air from time to time..
