Does anyone know the displacement amount consumed/lost by the protrusion in the stock 502 pistons - je700

This is the top style I'm talking about since evidently they made several top styles even under the JE700 stamping

Its a very small dome. Its not much, I wanna say 3 or 4cc positive displacement. Same piston used in GM crate ZZ502, 502HT towing engine, some merc 502's, etc. Its GM part #12533507, just made by JE for General Motors. Typical 502 with 118cc chamber heads, .040 head gasket, usually ends up around 8.75:1 ballpark.

I thought the small domes were 17-19cc

The JE700 nomenclature is a forging mark, not a volume/part identifier. The dome volume is +4 cc, minus a -3 cc valve relief, yielding a net crown volume of +1 cc.

Kind of off topic question. Did the motor that piston came out of have a thermostat in it?

Yes and a bunch of injectors that were WAY out of spec
