Need Prop Help
#1
Here is the deal. I have a 23 pitch mirage plus 3 blade on my 252. On smooth water on the Mississippi I run 58mph at 4800 rpm. I traded props with a freind this weekend. It was A 4 blade bravo 24 pitch. My mph went up to 62 mph on the gps and my rpm went down to 4400rpm. My question is what prop should I use to get my rpm back up and gain even more speed? Any suggestion?

You might think about trying a 22P Bravo I, if you like the performance of the 4 Blade Bravo I. Dropping down in pitch will put your RPM'S up at about 4800 RPM. Although I am going under the assumtion that your recommended RPM is about 4800. It is helpful to know your Manufactures recommended when determinging the appropriate propeller for your boat. It is important to pitch within your torque band. Hope this helps.

I think a Revolution would work well on that boat, a 23 would turn 300 less than you Mirage plus. Might be a little faster than the Bravo. Most likely if you went to a 22 Bravo you will lose some top end even though the RPM will of course be up.

Interesting. You took a 23 Pitch 3 Blade Mirage off and put on a 24 Bravo 1 four blade!
That is exactly what I am going to do on my boat. I got tired of trying to find a prop to "borrow" and just ordered a 24 pitch Bravo 1 after flipping a coin between the 22 and 24 pitch ones.
My boat is a 23' SeaRay Overnighter and has a 454 with 385 hp. I have hit 5000 rpm plus on my tach and around 63 mph. I am looking to drop my rpms and improved low speed and turn performance. Everybody around here says try the 4 blade!
The tip from the other poster about the Revolution is interesting and logical, but I just haven't heard much about that prop either.
Let me know if you change to a 22 pitch and how it performs. I'll be putting my 24 pitch on within the next 10 days I suppose.

take that bravo one, make a list of demands you want, put them both in a box......send them out to york propellers, when you get it back, bolt it on and youll be a happy camper...these wheels are basically blanks that need to be labbed to your needs...buying labbed wheels from merc are hit and miss situations.....so are "borrowing" wheels.....there only tests.....

on my 242 checkmate,385 hp, I tried a 24 pitch 4 blade revolution,it droped my rpms 300.but had no bow lift,so I lost 5 mph. Went back to 23 pitch mirage-plus,got my speed back, but turning 5100 rpms. all so with poor bow lift with the 24 rev made the boat handle very much like a tug.

My boat is a 24 cat. I had a stock 25 mirage plus. I bought a 24 stock Bravo 1. Lost close to 5 mph. Sent the prop to Merc to have it labbed. Gained no noticeable mph but gained rpm. This is not a fair statement though. You have to test different props back to back to really know the differences.
I did test a stock 23 Rev 4 and picked up 2.5 mph over the labbed bravo 1 24. Guess what I sold? The Bravo 1 24.
As they say every boat is different. Try Try Try b-4 you buy.
