Default Counter rotating drives... Blackhawk etc

Just out of curiosity, If the Imco SCX-4 was available in a duo prop/counter rotating that used cleaver style props, would anyone use it? For higher horsepower smaller V's under 30 with the proper amount of rocker and smaller cats with higher horsepower. I think that there is a void in the market for a product where the blackhawk left off in the 90's

Someone should do it. But it will take some R&D. Wiesmann was working on it but I haven't seen any updates in a long time.

People running ultra fast singles are a special kind of crazy until this issue is resolved IMO.

Yea pat was, but theirs was a straight shaft style... Even the bravo 3 has proven itself on some bigger boats, just no high hp styles.

Anthony at Wazzup told to me once that he was pretty sure he could take a -2 Sportmaster lower case and put all Bravo III stuff in and affectively make a shorty XR dual prop. A -4 would be pretty sweet though.

how much shorter is a Bravo over a B-hawk? I forget . . .

Im guessing the 10k in props for single engine boat would kill it for most people. Much cheaper to run a torque tab or a canted skeg.
bravo is 22.5" and Blackhawk is about 14.5 iirc.
There was a Bmax mated to cut Blackhawk that Earhart Engineering did but it had issues. Its for sale I believe but it needs gears,

Why was the Blackhawk discontinued? Seems like it's still in some demand..

From my understanding the blackhawk needed to be on a boat with rocker built in to get water up to it, like most surface drives. As i said about another drive, they can be designed to fit any boat just not every boat is designed for it. Bravo III props are only made to 30 pitch iirc. The blackhawk props in the pics are either 29 or 31s on ktrons 20 i currently have 2 sets of 31s for my blackhawk, to me the week part of the blackhawk is the one piece case. The scx 4 with a bolt on duo prop would be the bomb, sturdy scx upper and with duo end torque twist at the prop. As for prop cost, if im running 800plus horsepower one blown drive at 5-6 k would nearly offset that, black hawk props are 1200 per set if you can find them.

I talked to Tim Bostic at Hoss Props recently and he's not far from starting production for props for the Blackhawks. He said when he's up and running he'll announce it on the forms.

i have that same schematic, as well as the one that mentions X dim set up. i think its on another computer though. and I'm definitely interested in the props from Tim.
